Leah Kaminsky, a physician and writer, is Poetry & Fiction Editor at the Medical Journal of Australia. The author of several books, she conceived and edited Writer, M.D.,an anthology of contemporary doctor-writers (Vintage Knopf, US 2012). Her award-winning poetry collection, Stitching Things Together was published in 2010 (Highly commended IP Picks Prize, commended Anne Elder award). The recipient of many grants and fellowships, her work is published or forthcoming in Huffington Post, Monocle, Antipodes, Griffith Review, Hippocrates Poetry Prize anthology, Poems in the Waiting Room, Up The Staircase, The Ampersand Review, PANK, rkvry, Voices, Australian Poetry, Quadrant, Antipodes, The Examined Life, Mattoid, Cordite Poetry Review, Transnational Literature and The Age, amongst others. She was co-editor, with Lee Gutkind, of Issue #46 of Creative Nonfiction magazine, and is roving editor at Hunger Mountain literary journal. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is currently Writer-in-Residence at the Jewish Holocaust Research Centre.
Leah's debut novel The Waiting Room won the prestigious Voss Literary Prize (Vintage Australia 2015, Harper Perennial US 2016). We’re all Going to Die has been described as ‘a joyful book about death’ (Harper Collins, 2016). She edited Writer MD (Knopf US, starred on Booklist) and co-authored Cracking the Code (Vintage 2015). Stitching Things Together was a finalist in the Anne Elder Award. She holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
