With a strong background in film and performing arts, Richard first became involved in promoting the arts as Director of Management Enterprises Ltd (ME), an entrepreneurial arts marketing company he cofounded in New Zealand in 1983. Through ME Richard successfully developed, managed and promoted a range of theatre, dance, music, bands, acts and film projects for seven years until moving to Australia in 1989.

Richard’s first year in Australia was spent in Sydney where he promoted the return season of the stage musical Evita. In 1990 he moved to Melbourne where he continued to work extensively in marketing and fundraising for the film, arts and health sectors.

Since 2008 Richard has been the Marketing and Development Director at The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).  In this role he drives the development of ACMI’s brand, identity and corporate reputation, and is responsible for ACMI’s communications, marketing, stakeholder and government relations, as well as developing and overseeing the fundraising program.

Outside of his professional work, Richard has been actively involved in supporting arts, philanthropy and education. In 2006 he became founding Chairman of Tashmadada, which he  helped Deborah Leiser-Moore create, with the aim of supporting, nurturing and engaging in contemporary performing arts practices.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, ‘Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm’, to this let me add that we are all very enthusiastic about Tashmadada”.
